Terms of Service
Effective August 15, 2026
These terms govern your use of SPEK. By creating an account or starting a free trial, you agree to them.
The service
SPEK is subscription software for fire-alarm dealers who sell Kidde equipment. It lets you upload engineering plans, count devices, generate Kidde-priced Bills of Material (BOMs), build lump-sum proposals, generate purchase orders, and assemble submittal packages.
SPEK is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Kidde, Carrier, or any equipment manufacturer. "Kidde" and related product names are trademarks of their respective owners, used here only to identify the equipment the service works with.
Accounts & seats
Each plan includes a set number of user seats, consistent with the pricing shown on spekengine.com:
- Founding Dealer / SPEK Dealer — 2 users.
- SPEK Team — up to 5 users, with a shared product and pricing library.
- Enterprise / Manufacturer — seat count set by agreement.
A seat is a sign-in for a specific person at your company. Seats aren't shared across multiple people, and account credentials shouldn't be shared beyond the seats your plan includes.
Trials
New accounts get a free trial of 14 days or 1 complete project — whichever serves you better. You can run a real bid through SPEK end to end — takeoff, proposal, purchase order, submittal package — before you pay anything.
Founding Dealer terms
Founding Dealer pricing is $99/month, locked for 12 months from the date you sign up. After that 12-month period, your subscription moves to the then-current SPEK Dealer price, and we'll tell you what that price is well before the change takes effect.
Acceptable use
You agree to use SPEK only for legitimate fire-alarm design, estimating, and proposal work, and not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose, or upload content you don't have the right to use.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell access to SPEK.
- Share account credentials beyond the seats included in your plan.
- Interfere with the service's normal operation or attempt to access another dealer's data.
Your content
You own the plans, takeoffs, pricing, and proposals you create or upload in SPEK. We store and process them to provide the service to you, and we don't use them for anything beyond that. You can export or delete your content at any time; see our Privacy Policy for how deletion works.
Disclaimers
SPEK assists with NFPA 72 and code-compliance work — it does not replace the judgment of a licensed professional. The engineer of record and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) make the final call on any project's compliance and approval. SPEK assumes no professional-engineering liability for the requirements, BOMs, or deliverables it generates; you remain responsible for reviewing and stamping the work as your project requires.
Cancellation
You can cancel at any time. Monthly plans cancel effective the end of the current billing month. Annual plans run through the end of the year you paid for; they don't prorate mid-year. Either way, your data stays exportable through the end of your access.
Changes to terms
We may update these terms as SPEK evolves. If we make a material change, we'll notify you by email or by posting a notice on this site before it takes effect. Continuing to use SPEK after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
